• Hired as First Assistant to Fernando Clavijo, after 4 months was promoted to fulfill the head coaching duties in an interim position taking the team from last place to first place in the Eastern Conference
• Responsible for the first playoff victory in the history of the New England Revolution as well as the first ever berth to the MLS Cup Final in front of a record home crowd of 61,316
• Named 2002 MLS Coach of the Year
